AHA/BHA/Vitamin / PHA
There are 2 types of exfoliants: Physical (which are scrubs) and Chemical (which are acids). Exfoliants are necessary skincare routine to get rid of dead skin cells, unclog pores, prevent acne, evens skin tone and lessens appearance of scars and wrinkles.
Chemical Exfoliants, unlike scrubs, are acids that work their way mildly and gradually, but brings excellent result with consistent use.
Types of Acids or Chemical Exfoliants:
AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) – ex. glycolic and lactic acid – works on the skin surface, loosens dead skin cells on dull and dry skin which results to natural shedding, thereby creating a smooth, bright skin plus it diminishes fine wrinkles.
BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) – ex. salicylic acid – works on the skin surface and deep inside the pores. Unclogs debris and sebum. Best for normal to oily skin prone to acnes, clogs, bumps and enlarged pores.
Vitamin C – rich in antioxidant properties, this acid boosts collagen production to make the skin look plumper, firmer, evens skin tone and smooths out fine lines.
PHA – (Polyhydroxy Acid) – just like AHA, this too works on the surface of the skin, loosening dead skin cells, but on the far milder way making it perfect for dry and sensitive skin.
