• This wonderful ingredient is known to be an anti aging by stimulating the formation of collagen and elastin; repairs damaged skin and restores hydration. They are also found in acne products to lighten scars, soothe inflammation, and heal wounds. So it is actually an all in one beauty product packed with positive benefits.

• It is indeed a little uncomfortable to use a cream with snail slimes in them, but don't fret, the consistency is not slimey as one imagines. It feels and smells like every other creams or serums.

• Scientifically, snail mucin is a thick fluid excreted by snails. Compared to humans, we also excret oils or sebums out from our body. But the snail extract is packed with nutrients like hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein enzymes, proteoglycans, and antimicrobial and copper peptides, all of which are commonly used in beauty products and proven to be beneficial to the skin. Its official registered name for cosmetic production is „snail secretion filtrate“. The snails are not harmed from the production of these products.

• You'll find snail slimes in many product variations like in moisturizers, serums, and in spot treatments. Find one that best suits your skin and your skin concerns.

• Through fermentation, the molecular structure of ingredients are broken down and makes the nutrients more concentrated and more easily and rapidly absorbed in the skin, It can also produce additional skin friendly amino acids and antioxidants.

BEE VENOM 

• You read it right! Amazing idea, so let's try to dig deeper to this surprising ingriedent.

• Bee Venom has been in years in the market, but it is used for treating arthritis, back pains and rheumatish. As a skincare ingredient, it a newbee. 

• The concept behind it, is that the venom contains a compound called melitten. Melitten has anti-inflammatory properties which are believed to have higher potency than hydrocortisone. So,when venom is applied to the skin, the body reacts through increased blood circulation and increased collagen production. Futhremore, through this occurence, the facial muscles are temporary relaxed which then reduces wrinkles. That's how it derived its nickname as „natural Botox“.

SYN  AKE

• Nope, this is not derived from snakes! Unlike Bee Venom, this one is a synthetic compound similar to a peptide called Waglerin 1 that is found in the venom of a Temple Viper.

• Just like the Bee Venom this too has a Botox effect, which relaxes the facial muscles and smoothens wrinkles. You can find this ingredient in serums and moisturizing creams and emulsions.

• One study conducted in Switzerland showed there is no harmufl side effects of Syn ake and proved that wrinkles had actually improved by 52% within 28 days of use.

But like I always say, your skin is different from others, always test a product first before use. It doesn't matter if a product is organically or synthetically produced, your skin is vulnerable to irritations. But that's how you actually find the right skin product for yourself, a trial and error. Have fun experimenting!

OUR STORY

Hi!

I am Jodethe, the owner and sole founder of BoOonBox. I am a nurse who graduated in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the Philippines and worked as a Dipl. Pflegefachfrau HF in Switzerland. Since the birth of my youngest child, I quit work and stayed home as a plain mom. Being such a busy mother, I gave up many of my favorite hobbies except for reading. You could imagine me reading beside my son, during his afternoon nap.(can'r really go anywhere or else he'll wake up) It is through these reading episodes, that I came across about Korean skincare.

The Korean Skincare products had fascinated me for its high quality and innovative idea and yet offer competetive prices, and most importantly to the whole Korean  concept, where beautiful skin is a priority than hiding flaws through makeups. This concept had just summarized my goal in BoOonBox. It was also surprising that many including the media around the world has been expressing positive feedbacks about Korean skincare.

As I went through my research, I learned how Koreans are so passionate about skincare. They dedicate their time for daily skin routine, they teach their children in young age about skincare and carried this teaching from generation to generation. Skincare is just part of their culture and when it comes to beauty care, they are experts! With this passion in skincare, they are continously striving to develop new and better cosmetics using many natural ingredients like herbs, fruits, vegetables but also new innovations out of this world, which you might think at first to be weird. But hey, they are effective in preventing and solving skin concerns plaguing us everyday. I wanted to share these to everybody. I haven't used any of the products at that time and yet I was loving it already. I was convinced that this is something I should carry on and maybe others would benefit from it too just like I do.

SKIN TYPES AND TIPS

In order to identify the right and effective skincare product for yourself, it is important to know your skin type or the skin concerns or problems you want to treat and prevent in the first place.

Your skin can change over time, so it's essential to test your skin periodically. Factors like hormonal changes, age, lifestyle, weather and medical conditions can all affect the condition of your skin. It is the reason why the product that has been effective to you, could suddenly stop working for your skin.

2 Ways to Identify Your Skin Type

• wash your face like you always do, do not apply any cosmetics or skincare products, wait an hour and assess your skin OR

• same as above, but do it before going to sleep without wearing any skincare products. Assess your skin in the morning.

Your skin type reflects the level of oil your skin produces:

NORMAL SKIN

Your sebacious gland is producing enough oil to make your skin smooth and almost blemish free. Not too dry and not too oily

• no signs of flaking

• few visible pores

• few minor breakouts like acne

• no tighness and itchiness

• radiant complexion

TIPS:

• use hydrating toners and emulsions

DRY SKIN

Your sebacious gland is not producing enough oil which makes your skin rough and dull when touched and or unable to retain moisture or water (dehydrated skin)

• lacks radiance

• dull, rough complexion

• feels tight

• more pronouced wrinkles and lines

• less elasticity

• red patches

TIPS

• apply layers of hydrating skin products like moisturizing toners, humectant-based serums/essences

• seal it by using thicker, occlusive moisturizing creams

OILY/ACNE PRONE SKIN

Your sebacious gland is overproducing oil, which gives your skin the shiny look.

• dull, shiny and thicker appearance

• enlarged pores

• prone to acne, blackheads

• T zone problems

TIPS:

• avoid over cleansing to not aggravate further oil production

• don't forget your moisturizers! Your skin needs hydration that comes from water, not from oil

• Use light emulsions and watery, gel-based creams

COMBINATION SKIN

Some areas are normal or dry like the cheeks; other areas are oily such as the T zone (forehead, nose, chin).

• shiny and visible enlarged pores in oily areas

• blackheads and acne in oily areas

• dry, flaky and red patches in dry areas

TIPS:

• look for „ balancing“ label in skin products which are designed for combination skin

• apply light layers of hydrating products from toners, essences, serum to moisturizer creams, this way oily areas are not heavy loaded and dry areas get its maximum moisture needs.

• Please refer to our Product discriptions. They are all written in english for better understanding. Or you can also download a translator app which translates Korean to your choice of language.

5. Is that expiration date written at the bottom of the product? I bought an expired product?

• Please don't be alarmed when you see the date at the bottom of your product, which is maybe same year when you bought it. It is the manufacturing date listed there. Cosmetic products usually have a shelf life of 2-3 years after manufacturing date. For more information, please read here.
